We're trying to find parts for a single row Farquhar - Iron Age potato digger. It runs off of a power take-off. The cast cams/gears that run the belt are shot, and the belt is made up of metal rods bent at each end to connect to the next link. These links are pretty worn, too. Anyone have any information on parts for this machine (bought used in the early 50's)?

If you have a local potato equipment dealer in your area you should be able to order chain and sprockets through them. They will need to know how wide the links are, the diameter of the rods, the pitch of the chain(distance between rods)and number of links in the chain(this gives you the lenght of the chain).since your chain is worn several links have probably been removed in the past to remove slack in the chain so you should order a few extra links to make sure you have enough to go all the way around your machine.for your sprockets you will need to know the number of teeth, diameter of drive shaft, and the size of the keyway on the shaft.NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS this will cost in the neighborhood of 1000 dollers new, so your best bet Would be to search your local salvage yards for used chain and matching sprockets.if you need more information email me and i will try to answer your questions or give you some web sites to look at. hope this helps :)
