Dear Experts, Could you guys take a look at this photo and tell me if you notice anything good or bad about this plow. I haven't seen it in person and I wouldn't know what to look for anywho. Like sargent Schultz on Hogan's Heroes, "I know Nothing!". Especially about plows. I know the colour is a strange colour of green (it's yellow), but other than that how does it look? I have been looking for a plow for My Super 55 (I want an Oliver for show reasons) and this is the closests to my place I have ever seen one for sale. It's onlyin the next province as opposed to Minnisota or Indiana.

Can't see any difference between it and 3241 plow, still would like to know what the difference is.

I would price out replacement parts - anything the soil rubs on, WILL wear out. The shares wear out regularly, so expect them to be about used up, maybe $10 a piece to replace. But the shins (smaller triangles on front edge), molboard (the biggest part of the plow bottom), and landsides (the vertical part trailing on the side of the furrow) all should be in pretty good condition. If they are wore down, the value of the plow goes down. Can't really see this wear very well in a picture. Also looks like the coulters are wore down. The bigger they are, the better your plow will go through tough cornstalks, grass, etc.

I would also look over the 3-point parts, as they wear also.

Then, you need to see if it ever got bent anywhere in the frame, from hitting a rock. Some plows have shear pins or springs to 'break away' the whole plow, or 'trip' individual bottoms when you hit a rock. This is good, and these things should work (not packed with dirt, oversize bolts, rusted tight, or welded shut).

Otherwise you will end up like Shep below, with his bent frame plow.... (Sorry to use you as an example, Shep - done plenty of that type of thing myself....)

Ain't no problem there Paul. I hope others can learn from my mistakes. Hope no else has to go thru the aggravation.

I will be posting before repair and after repair pics when complete - provided of course I don't bury my D10 with my backhoe.

Super 55 I would ditto Paul's comments. If you happen to find another Oliver plow let me know as I to am looking one. Looking for a 3x14 or 3x16 to run behind my 550. I have one sitting in SC I need to go pick up.
