From someone who is an IHC fan i was plesantly suprisied today when i called my local John Deere Dealer with a part # for my disc harrow. while first informed that the part was made obsolete in 1947, they performed a search in the dealer network that brought up 4 sources for the part, and i have ordered the one i need. plus i was allowed to browse the files and was able to determine that i have a model "L" type Disk Harrow and was supplied a detailed parts list and cut sheets identifiying parts. Now thats service.

I had the same type experience a year ago. I put the end of my JD #9 sickle mower into the fence and damaged the end ledger plate. Local dealer didn't have any and had to order 25 (minimum order quantity) so he did a search and found one at a dealer 200 miles north. He called and had it shipped directly to me and had me pay the other dealer. He could have insisted on having it shipped to him so he could mark it up and I would have paid it. We're talking about a $2 part and I thought their service was great to help me out to that extent on such a small item.
