Dose any one know the value of a "Ferguson A-LO-20 #3208 Cordwood Saw" In allmost mint condishion? It is complete with 3-point hitch, Bolt on PTO Pulley, ID Plate (Ferguson). Flat Belt and a sharp Saw Blade all parts there and original Paint and not rusty. I have a chance to buy one and don't know what they are worth. Thanks, Mark H.

This model would have been sold with Ferguson TO 20 and 30 tractors. Info should be available at your local Massey Ferguson dealer.

Have you used a cordwood saw before? Aside from being a neat looking implement, my opinion is they are not a very useful tool, and a much more dangerous than a chain saw. My father has one, we never use it. They are only good for logs you can lift onto the buck table (may be 6 - 8 inch diameter) and the three I've used were no faster than a well sharpened chain saw. My advice is stick with the chain saw - make a log buck for "mass cutting" of small logs and branchs.

As with all equipment, largely dependant on location. Most people will not touch this type of saw now due to safety concerns therefore $150 ought to buy it. I have a Ford one on my 8N, grew up with one on a Farmall H and think the world of it. Fast, no more dangerous than my chainsaw (neither one forgives) and enjoyable to use
BTW Robert Frost has a good poem (Death Of The Hired Hand (if I remember correctly ) noting the danger of being careless
