I just purchased a 10foot JD KBA Disk. It seems to be in very good shape. Thing is it didnt come with a hydraulic cylinder. Can anyone tell me what size cylinder I need to get for this application? Thanks JDHUMP

3 1/2x8 would probably get the job done. That is kind of a standard on most machinery. Now go put that H to work. I pulled a 10' disc all day long with an H this fall discing up a field that I also plowed. I love to hear them things out in the fields!

By 10' I am assuming that it is an 8 on a side that acording to the book is a 9' 10" on rear gangs, if you are measuring on front gangs as some people do then it would be 9 on a side for 11' 0" total, mine is a 7 on a side that measures 8' 8", also have a 6 on a side drag type that Grandpa had for his 41 H farmal with no hydrolics, gave a load to that tractor, also have heavy clay ground, if it is the 8 on a side and you have heavy ground you will be streaching the limmits of that tractor, if it is the 9 on a side I don't think you will be able to have enough power, unless it is one of the very low preasure tractors, need to use a pressure gauge to check, and are going to buy a new cylinder then I would buy a 3" as to get a 1/2 sized cylinder new is verry hard to find and expencive , that tractor you only need a 1000# rated cylinder and hose.

Dependson make and model of tractor and pressure of pump, KBA disk 10' was designed to be used with A or B tractors that had less than 1000 lb. pressure and culinder sold for use with B tractor was 2 1/2", A was 3 1/2", My 9' use only the 2 1/2" on with my deere, with My Ford with 2000 Lb. pressure the 2" Ford cylinder will do O.K., If Low Pressure like some of the early Farmalls with 375 lb. pressure only then would you need the 3 1/2" cylinder, On my McCormic that was a lot heavier I used a 3" cylinder With the J.D.A, A 4 " would be a way overload.

I have a 10 foot KBA that works fine with a 3" by 8" cylinder on my Oliver 1600. It doesn't appear to be straining anything ...

You will probably need a 3 1/2"x8" cylinder.

3 1/2 x8" if you have higher pressure, 4x8'if its lower they are also handy for, and called "plow Cylinders" the "fancy" ones have adjustable kick off stops. JD.,IH, etc.
