I like to tinker with old farm equipment and I have stumbled on to an old New Holland Model 68, P.T.O., 2 string baler, s/n 46304 and a Massey Ferguson model 37 hay rake, s/n 12515. The baler has some rust inside the bale chamber and in various other places but does not appear to be rusted through anywhere. It has been sitting outside in Az. for a few years since its last use but was working ok last time it was used. The Hay Rake looks to be in ok condition except for paint and has been sitting outside for several years also. Can anyone out there tell me what these two implements would be worth and possibly how old they are? Thanks in advance for any reply!

I bought a MF 36 rake last summer from a relative for $500. I was thinking more like $200, but he's family and usually takes care of his stuff. It has worked ok, but I would prefer a 3pt hitch pto rake because of the confined space I need to work in.

In looking at the Wenger's rake it looks like the main difference between it and my 36 is that the rake is driven off the right wheel with a chain drive. Mine is driven off the left wheel with a driveshaft.

The prices are a little bit high, I have seen the same stuff for less elsewhere, but Wengers does make sure the stuff is in good condition. Otherwise it becomes a parts unit...

I have a NH 78, came out in the late 50's, paid $450 and was in very good condition. A farmer gave me a side delivery rake after buying some other implements from him, I wouldn't have given him more than $50 for it by it's self. Side delivery rakes roll the hay up like a twisted rope. You can call a NH dealer and get the year the 68 was made, I seem to believe it was also on a web page somewhere but can't remember, can someone out there help.

Good luck.
