Greetings:

I own a Farmall A and purchased a 4 ft 3 pt rotary mower this summer. I was short on time so I just rigged up something fast using angle iron and the U-shaped fixed drawbar. It worked fine, but was difficult to adjust. I did not mount any of the steel that makes the mower a 3 pt mower. I scavenged two short pieces of flat metal from the 3 pt parts and attached it to angle iron that was bolted to the drawbar. The short pieces of flat steel were bolted with 5/8 inch bolts directly to the frame of the mower. You could change the front height of the mower by adjusting the u-shaped fixed drawbar on the A. That required either taking off the mower, making the adjustments and remounting the mower, or use a bottle jack to lift the front of the mower while making the adjustments. Not convenient, but it works.

Right now I am playing with making a non-standard 2-3 pt hitch for the Farmall A. This will allow me to adapt 3 pt equipment more easily and allow adjustments more easily. I was hoping to give the tractor hydraulics by installing a used snow plow electric driven hydraulic pump, but I could not locate one locally. You may have better luck. I am installing a 12 volt 1,000 pound winch as an alternative. It is working fine to lift a homemade snowplow blade on the front. I am now figuring out how to get the lifting power to the back of the tractor to power the 2-3 pt hitch.

I sure do like playing. If I were a better weldor (just starting out), I would probably have it all done by now. Let me know if you want to see my crazy ideas (including all my mistakes).

The answer is yes. There are a couple of different answers to your problem. Busy Corner probably did not notice that you have an A farmall not a Super A and do not have a hydraulic system. The simplest method would be to make a bracket on each side that connects to the hitch pins on the cutter or to where the hitch bolts to the cutter deck. The cutter will be semi-mounted like some of the old sickle-bar mowers or the old one-wheel trailers that attached to car bumpers. With a little more time invested it can be done in a manner allowing the cutting height to be adjustable. E-mail me if you have more questions.

Probably easier to fabricate/purchase 3pt set up for tractor. I had a 130 with 3pt. set up, although, I had to fabricate the lower mounting plates. Check aruond tractor bone yards, might just happen upon one.
