i asked this question this morning. but it got zapped. I would like to build a hydraulic auger to put on the boom of a mini-excavator i just got. i think it might be handy to help me with fencing. figure to use a right angle gear box driven my a hydraulic motor. i'll probably use parts form surplus center. any of you fellows ever built one? any suggestions. thanks.

I've got an OLD Danuser that I've been wanting to convert to hydraulic drive and mount on the backhoe dipper stick.

The design of my auger doesn't lend itself to bolting stuff on though.. still thinking about it.

I think with the right motor you shouldn't need the gear reducer.. there's quite a bit of reduction built into most augers already.

As far as factory units, Danuser makes them, Northern tool has one in it's catalog too.

I've seen them in the "Northern Tools . . . " catalog. They showed them for use on skid loaders and for boom mount. Don't remember cost.

Rhudson, this doesn't really answer your question, but....Iv'e got a three-point hitch Danuser that is hydraulic. Would never go back to pto drive, because of the reversing feature.

If you are going to use a hydraulic motor to drive the auger why not just direct drive the auger and skip the gearbox?

hello No the motor will not take the load by its self! What you do is get what is called a over load adapter for the size motor you are going to use. the motor shaft fits right in to it then the edrill fits in to the over load. GARY
