I just bought an IH 46 baler this weekend.
It appears to be in very good shape, no rust inside.
The baler has a wisconsin 2 cylinder motor. It took me about 5 minutes to get it started. Now it starts first try, and runs great.
I am looking for any information on this baler and this motor. Like strengths or weaknesses, tips or tricks, what other models have interchangeable parts, and where to get manuals for the baler & engine.
Should I run plastic or sisal twine?
Is IH Case dealer a good source for parts?
Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Once you get that engine hot, don't shut it off until you're done baling. Wisconsins are notorious for not wanting to start again until they cool down.

Had a v4 Wisconsin on a combine. When I got it the exhaust valves were stuck open. The air cooled run hotter and the exhaust valves more so. The magneto would short out and shut down the machine when it got hot, until I had the coil replaced.

I would run synthetic oil blend and oil the cylinders when it was off season.

I Bought a 46 baler a couple years ago it's a pto.I haven't been able to get it to knot for me,Im missing some springs on the knotters and haven't had time to mess with it. My manual does show the baler with a motor but doesn't give any info on the motor as far as I know.I do have a service manual on 2cyl wiscoson engines somewhere but hard to say when it might turn up.My wife is good at hiding things.I'm sure a small engine shop could help you out on specs.if needed . Good Luck!
