Any ideas when Case stopped making threshing machines?
I have my eye on one in a local yard up here in the great white northern Alberta.
It is all painted steel, the usual blower, weigher, etc, but it is on rubber tires.
This struck me as a little unusual and wondered if it was a late model and what age it might be?
Any thoughts would be valued.
Regards, Herb.

My dad and uncle bought a new case threshing machine in about 1948 and it was on rubber. As I was only 6 yrs old at the time, I don't remember much except that in later years I was old enough to help. The last time I remember helping with the threshing was in 1956. We kept the thresher in our shed for many years until my dad passed away in 1968 and his share was sold to my uncle. I don't know what they did with it, but would like to have it now as it was in excellent condition. Also, I remember that most of the time we powered it with a DC Case that my uncle owned and it handled it very well threshing wheat and oats.

J. I. Case built their last threshing machines in 1951. I have a serial no. list on Case threshers and could tell you what year it was built if you can post the number. The serial no. tag should be fastened somewhere on the frame above the front axle. We have a Case 22x36 on steel built in 1928.

...about the neighbor that had the Case threshing machine on rubber! I think it might have only been a 24", cause he borrowed a blank concave bar we had for our A-6 combine to put in when doing milo, so it didn't crack so much. (We had an A-6 that had teeth instead of rub bars.) Also, he had to find a 100' belt because the 50' he had kept jumping off when the old A-JD got to bouncing in front when it was pulling hard the first year he had it. Then he got his 60, but still used the long belt. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

...that bought a 28"(?) Case on rubber in the late 1950's. I think it was only a year or so old when he got it, so I'd guess they still made 'em as late as 1955 or so. He used to use it to thresh milo & some small grain, as he wanted the straw pile. It'd take everything you wanted to put into it w/60JD on the 100' belt. My cousin & I used to go over & spike pitch for him when he threshed-made us glad we had an A-6 Case to do our harvesting. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I have a 28 inch machine which is on rubber and is painted all orange. My understanding from a book I have is that Case built their last machine in 1953. I power mine with a 1949 LA Case and it works great--it can handle more than you can pitch into it. Bob
