Adam,

Sorry I didn't answer your first post but I was out of town.

If you can, post a few of the casting numbers from the machine. (Drive wheel, bundle carrier, ect.) This will help me ID your machine in one of my parts manuals.

Parts can still be found for the binders. Granted, for some of them you may have to do some hunting for but some can still be found new. If you are looking for the canvas for the machine, you can still get them. If you would like the source, please drop me a e-mail and I will send it to you.

As for you not being able to re-sell the machine, I can't really agree with that. Granted, if you were to just getting it back into working condition you may be able to make a buck or two off of it but if you were to do a complete overhaul with new paint I don't think you would break even.

Hope this helps,

Old Iron

I spent a lot of time shocking grain behind one of those as a teenager. It would be very difficult (and lucky) to find canvasses for it. If I remember correctly Harvester Highlights had an article on the horse drawn grain binder a year or two ago. And I would agree that it is one of the most labor saving devices ever invented for the farm. Good luck with it. Out of pure nostalgia I wish I could see one again. But I certainly don't want to spend much time shocking the bundles that come out of it. I've had enough of that for a lifetime.
