I have a A/C 6 row planter. I can't find any model number anywhere. It has round metal seed boxes, disc openers, rubber press wheels, the frame is all square tubing. I am needing plates but don't know what to get any help would be appreciated. I have seen a planter in a junk yard just like it, but it had the runner type openers. Thanks Brian

I have an Allis Chalmers 4 row planter though I do not know the model number of it. I has flat steel framework on the planter units and has the round steel seed boxes. It is a pull type. I bought brand new seed plates for corn for my planter through a seed dealer The plates that my planter use have an inside peice that has ears on it and the outside ring that is acually the seed plate itself. I went to a seed dealer and it seems like they had them in stock. They could problably order them if not. Hope I have helped you a little.

believe it or not, those A-C plates are the same as what John Deere used in the old 1920s-40s model 999 horsedrawn planter. How they ended up being the same type, nobody can say for sure.

OH yow I read in my A-C book that that JD planter had the same plates and right before I bought mine at a seed dealer I went to a JD dealer and they brought plate to the counter and it looked almost indentical to the A-C plates. I know that A-C really knew how to build planters that was one of there best products.

After reading in the archives I was starting to think they were the same but thought they surely couldn't be. Did these planters do a very good job? This one was gave to me so I have nothing in it, the guy was just wanting to clean up even got a extra set of boxes and several different sprockets.

I am glad that I can help a little. I do not know if an AGCO ALLIS dealer would have any plates or not I know that they still sell some parts for some of the ALLIS planters.
