Hello got a 6 1/2' disc/harrow from TS. It has grease fitting on every bearing, it came from the factory ungreased. I greased it enough son that the grease came out the sides. Wiped off excess. My ? is how offen do you grease and do you grease it to the point where it comes out? I thought if any sand got in that the grease would push it out when reagreased. What da ya think. Thanks.

when new and the seals [if it has them like discs bearings] should be done according to the instruction manual, if the bearings have already been over greased so that the grease comes out, then i would continue greasing till it comes out. but if the seals have not been blown , then stick to the small squirts the instructions say.the seals will keep the dirt out and the grease in and clean .

Hey George -
Sounds like you are about ready to do some playing. I grease my ALL equipment everytime I use it. I usually try to grease it before I start but if I forget I always grease after done working and before putting it away.

I have made this a game for my boys so they can get used to helping out.

Also on that disk you can shorten or lengthen the top link to make the gangs bite a little better. On my smaller set I attach to the tractor, raise the lift arms and adjust top link until they look level while in the air. Then before I lower it I adjust the toplink again so rear gang is approx. 3-5" lower than front. This works for me. Try it out and adjust as needed.

Have fun, be safe and keep on chuggin'

I do it like FM, unless of course it has a seal that can be blown out if it is overgreased. For things like the loader, backhoe, disc etc. I just pump it full until I can see it come out, wipe off the extra so it won't catch dirt and go. I usually grease before I put things away for the evening so it pushes out any water that might have gotten in, esp, on the backhoe if I have been digging under water.

I have a Ford "202" 6 1/2' disc that sounds just like yours. Dad bought it new sometime in the 60s for his 8N. Owner's manual says to "Lubricate gang bearings after every 4 hours of operation. Wipe the fittings clean before greasing to avoid forcing dirt into the bearings". Only problem we had with the disc was keeping the gang angle adjusting bolts tight. Finally fixed them by welding.

But I try to grease about everything everytime I use it. Dad complains about how much we go through, but with this old equipment I use if something breaks ya gotta buy a whole nother piece of jun---er----equipment because ya can't find parts. I figure if ya grease them good, they will last longer. I grease until I can see it, most of the time...
