Old Cole 2-row duplex planter

I'm hoping that someone can help me identify my old Cole 2-row duplex seed planters. They are mounted on a Pittsburg style frame, with 2-Cole 125 lb. fertilizer distributors, which are turned by a single metal ground wheel, located in the center of the frame. According to Mack Moody at Powell Mfg. Company, he cannot find a manual on file for my particular old planter. Mack sent a manual for their multi-flex planter. It closely resembles this one, but not exactly. Mine does not have the skid plate before the disc openers and the chain routing on mine is not as complex as that of the newer multi-flex planter. Each planter is driven by a spoked steel wheel with a rubber pad to firm-up the seed bed. I have several digital pictures I can e-mail if someone would be kind enough to help me identify it. I need some parts to restore it and Powell may be able to supply the parts if it can be identified. Your help would really be appreciated! Thanks, Allen

I have an old l row cole duplex planter. I suspect you have a homemade planter. Someone took two old planters and attached then to a frame. I have seen several of these units attached to tool bars and some even with 3 point hitch addapted to it. They were used around here to plant watermelons. What parts do you need, Powell can probably fix you up with the seed unit parts. Hope this helps. Robert.

Robert: Thanks for your information. I found a local tractor dealer today that has a parts list for this set of planters. It is a Cole model 1200-D planter chasis. The parts list matches perfectly with what I have. This dealer even has a couple of parts for it. He doesn't have the seed hoppers and lids, which I desparately need.

I'm now looking for an owners manual for it, if anyone has one that could run me a copy. I would be happy to pay for the trouble to print it.

Thanks,

Allen

Allen,

I know this information is dated, however I do have a Cole Dealers manual that covers most of the planters that Cole produced. If you have a discrete model number, I may be able to make the parts list and specs available to you. If you have Fax or email and can manipulate Adobe.pdf files I will send anything I have over.
