can anyone tell me the differences between these two balers. What years were they made, capacity, which would bale faster etc. I have located these two as used balers for about the same price. Both are twine balers.

I have the Ford 530 and the Ford baler will do a good job. Sometimes you can get a baler in better condition with the Ford because it isn't a NH or JD. Parts availability has not been a problem for me. They were supposedly made up until '81 so that might be a recent baler. I would recommend that you keep your eyes open to buy a second baler for parts of the same model for either of them. Baler parts are not cheap no matter if they are red, blue or green.

I know which one would be easier to maintain and resell, and it ain't the Ford.

Not familiar with the Ford, but I've baled upteen bales with a 24T. It was a 'light-duty' baler, but as long as you kept the bales in the 55-60# range, it would spit'em out like a metronome. Need to keep the area around the knotters clean; a build-up of trash and it would miss a bale occasionally.
