Would a 10 ft. transport disk be too much for my 245, 4X4 Massey Ferguson? I will be using it in heavy clay soil with limestone parent material. Thanks. DJ

Thanks for the information guys. I let that one get away, so I'm back to square one. When and if I find another I will look into the ratcheting cylinder.
Thanks; DJ

I would say it you are on the fringe even with loaded tires. I am assuming this is a 32 pan disk. If the price is right and it is a little too much of aload you can always drop the outside pan all the way around and use it as a 28 pan.

DJ I am not familiar with your tractor. It kind of depends on how deep you want to go. I pull a 10' tandem Krause with my 550 Oliver. It is approx.40hp with loaded rear tires. I can run out of traction if I put it all the way in the ground.

I run a pull-type 10' IHC Model 37 transport disk with a 550 Dsl. Has done good so far but as Pete mentioned I can run out of traction from time to time.

This is generally in heavy clay or if I have it set to deep. It has hyd. but my tractor does not at this time. Adjustments are made with come-along. Position is maintained with a chain and binder. PITA so I make sure I do the hard stuff first then adjust for the easier work.

Just got this thing this spring and it is a tremendous improvement over my 3pth rig.

Couldn't you use a ratcheting cylinder eliminator, & make those adjustments much easier? About $40 or so should find one at TSC or the like.

Dern Paul -
Not a day goes by that I don't learn something from this site!!

Thanks for the tip. Most of the time I end up knowing more about my equipment than the parts dealer so I get stuck with my laboring solutions.

I will certainly look into this! First time I actually used the disk as I described above I thought "MAN O MAN, maybe I should get a walking plow and a pr. of mules, would be a lot less field work!"

Thanks again. Once I get hyd. on that 550 I should be in the 20th Century I hope. Thanks again!
