A guy I know has this mower that he got when he bought 5 acres and an old homestead. It has been stuck in the dirt for several years and he just pulled it out yesterday and put it on the pallet.
You can see where there were 2 different mfgr/model plates rivited on but they are both gone.
Most of the sickle teeth say Ford on them and it does have a wee bit of blue paint in one corner though the machine has obviously been repainted a time or two.
It looks pretty complete to me but there may be some other bracket on the tractor that is missing.
We talked a little about doing some sort of horse trading on it but mostly We'd like to know what brand it is so we can look for a manual to help figure out how to mount it.
Sorry but I'm a better carpenter than photographer.
If someone recognizes the brand maybe they can let me know if they were a good machine or not.
The sickle is 6' btw. Thanks to Any and All

Forget what the other guys said it was, its not a Ford, Dearborn, or Case, it is a 1948 Massey Ferguson Model 60. I know because i have one that my great grandfather bought new in 1948 along with the Ford 8N, I have it and still use it along with the 8N for mowing in places to tight for my Massey 399 and 390. If u paint the mower back to its orginal colors, and fix it up, u should be able to get at least $250, that type of mower was made exclusively for the 8N and 9N tractors, the only problem now is trying to find a sickle for it, my massey dealer was lucky to find me 4 for mine about 3 years ago.

Massey Ferguson did not exist till mid 55's, that is the Detroit mower that ferguson sold in 48, Massey Harris could have also sold a version of it,If Ferguson sold it it would have been grey, red if ford sold it, case orange

Dearborn Harvester sold under both Dearborn (Ford) & Ferguson name plates and colors, Case also sold a version of it under their name, some manuals are avaible from N news, I have others that they do not have, a colector type mower, not for general use as parts are not avaible, I have three of them.

The pics are of a Dearborn (Ford) Mower the first one of I had any dealings with was one my father had in the late 50s, and it was old then. I then had one in the mid 70s. You are missing the mounting brackes that go under the fenders. and the left stablizer bar.

P.S. the best thing is to junk it and get a 501 Ford mower much easer to mount on tractor.

It is a old Dearborn sickle mower. My grandfather
had one. We gave it away late last year. It fits
the following models 9N, 2N, 8N, TO-20, TO-30 and
several other models in the FORD/FERGUSON family.

Ultradog.

If it is a Ford it would it would probably out of the old Dearborn line. The pittmand type Ford mowers changed very little from the mid fifties to the seventies. Other mowers that would have been red and built for a 3-pt hitch in the fifties might be Massey Harris/Ferguson and New Holland. Remember that the Ford and Ferguson were the only 3-pt hitches as we know them today until the late fifties and early sixties. There were a few variants such as the Eagle hitch and JDs three point hitch. Look on some of the Ford N pages and check out the old advertisements showing the implement lines. Good Luck.

It looks a lot like the Dearborn (Ford) mower my cousin has sitting by the barn, waiting for restoration. Not sure, but maybe Detroit Harvester made this thing for Dearborn?
