I have an older Ford brush hog. It leakes oil real bad and needs a new bottom seal. Does any body know what the seal # would be, or where I can find a parts list?
Ford, mod. 22-60 ser. 8520. Thank you.

If you know it's a Ford product and have the model and serial number, call a Ford dealer and he will help you get parts for it. If the seal is still intact, you may be able to see the number on it- if it's a generic number, any dealer should be able to cross-reference it with the info you already know. Ford was taken over by New Holland, who was taken over by Case-IH. If the original product was made by Ford, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out how to get parts. Some might think that's being sassy, but I can't believe how many people can't understand that the dealer is the first source to contact. When all the dealers are gone because of non-support, will the auto stores care if you can get parts?

Yes I know that the dealer is the first place you should go for parts. But you see I can order bearing, seals and gears etc. through the place I work much cheaper, that is if they are not OEM. In this day and age you have to save every buck you can.

When you say older that can go back along way. Is it Red or Blue? The gearbox and pedestal were the same for many years, but the earlier units had a smaller output shaft with 10 splines(?) and the later models had a larger shaft with 24 splines. You can go to a NAPA parts store or bearing shop and get a seal based on the diameter of the shaft and hole. New holland should be able to help you out. On parts like seals it is likely that there will be a difference of over 5 to 10 dollars over alternative sources. By the way Case-IH did not buy New Holland. Ford New Holland was bought by Fiat then Fiat bought Case-IH. Most of the tractor designs from FNH and CIH will soon be gone and replaced by Fiat designs.

If the tractors that Fiat produces are no better than their cars, that will be a real shame. Never did see a Fiat that held up at all.
