Finally completed restoration and got all the parts assembled on my E10 'CASE' sickle mower. New blades, bottles & nuts where necessary and new paint. Looks just like it came out of the factory, almost good enough to park it in the living room.

Now, I'm stumped, how to make the necessary adjustment and set it up to work.

Does anyone have an owners or operating manual which describes and illustrates how to make the adjustments and maintenace on this particular sickle mower??? Also I may want to replace the grass board at the end but don't really know what it's function is???

Greatly appreciate feedback on this matter. Matt

Matt,

The grass board (swath board in our local venacular) is to open up a nice clean path for the inside of the cutter bar to run in on the next swath around the field. a sicle mower can be a real bear if you give it an opportunity to clog up on cut hay. Some hay conditions require about as good a reverse as a forward to get the hay down. this "swath board" just helps the process along a little. Can make the difference in being able to mow and not being able to mow in some conditions. Have fun. I'd like to have a good E 10.

Thanks Wheat Straw for the clear explanation. Being a retired civil engineer, I would never have figured out on my own the purpose for the swath board. Got to hand it to those ingenious farmers. That must explain why the swath board is on an angle to the cutter bar and not at 90 deg. so it directes and lays the cut far enough to provide a clear path for the next pass.

Now all I need is directions on how to do the adjustments to the sickle mower and put it working properly.
