I pulled my old IH disc out of the bushes to disc a field before planting grass. I got out the grease gun and proceeded to put two cartridges of grease into the 8 grease fittings, without any coming out the sides of the bearings. How much can these things hold?

The old disks with the boxing type bearings can hold quite a bit. The more wear that the bearings have the more space you will have to fill before the grease will come out. Is this an old drag type disk? I have seen these where they were used once or twice a year for the garden and seldom got greased after leaving regular use. I have a 1964 Ford 3-pt disk with the old style bearings and two fittings at each bearing, it is normal for it to take 1 to 1-1/2 tubes of grease the first time each season and it's bearings still have a close fit.
