I have two 1930s/1940s corn planters roughly made the same way, both IHC, both pull type, one horse drawn, and one tractor drawn, rope trip. They each have 3 gears on the main wheel axle, 2 gears on the planter box drive axle, and 2 gears that can be slid sideways on this axle, under the planter boxes that will either have 2/3/or 4 gear teeth so as t speed up or slow down the rate of drop. Im needing to know how to set these planters to get say 6/8/10in drop consistantly (more or less lol) thanks. Bill

Bill If you seed plates have 20 cells, then set as follows:
6 1/2"...medium sprocket on wheel axle, 6 tooth sprocket on seed axle and 4 tooth gear under seed can.
8 3/4"... same as above but use the small sprocket on the wheel axle.
10"...large sprocket on wheel axle,8 tooth sprocket on seed axle, and 3 tooth gear under seed can.
If you seed cells aren't 20 cell, let me know and I'll give the spec's for what size you have.
