I'm restoring a IH Model 9A pull-type tandom disk harrow. The bearings are considerably sloopy on all axles. Parts manual shows the bearings to consist of a grooved upper&lower half bearing blocks with a inner steel/castiron bearing spool.

Are new bearing parts still available or do I need to look at other options to restore the tightness in the bearings???? Greatly appreciate a response. Matt

I bought an older 3 pt 4 gang disc this spring
and the wooden bearings were completely shot. Found a guy here locally that could order new cast iron bearing blocks for me complete with spools.
Paid about $150 for a set of 8 including shipping to my door.
I had to do some monkeying around - machining/welding to make them work for me but now I have a totally rebuilt disc
for not a heck of a lot of money.
If you want more info or his phone # email me.
Be glad to help.

Thanks Guys: especially (Jerry D. in NC & ShepFC) advising to check out Agri-Supply's and also Hal advising to check Case IH. Case IH parts list indicate some original bearing parts available (not after market), but very expensive, eg. $80 just for one part of the bearing or $1920 to replace all 8 bearings. $100 is what I paid for the entire tandom disk.

I either use the disk as is or eventually figure out how to recondition the bearings.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe companies like Shoup handle the cast iron bearing parts. The top halves are usually unique, since they must bolt to the disk frame. They might be available from CaseIH but probably expensive.

If you go download the catalog .pdf pages 11-20 on Agri-Supply's web site, you will find on page 19 some of the bearing halves they have. Do not think this to be all that they have. Call the 800 number and you will get knowledgable people. If you can get the IH part number for cross reference that will help but call them. Maybe they help you find a substitute
