What is the best way to tie one spool of twine to the next?

I use a becket bend or sheet bend ,, make a bight (bend in the rope) pass the other rope through the bight, the over the rope and under itself again and pull it tight.....

The OM for my JD 337 specifies "Square knot" for twine and "Sheet Bend" for plastic. It also says the knot needs to be as small as possible in order to pass through the knotters properly.

With sisal twine make the first 1/2 of a Sq. knot.
Now bring the ends around like you were th complete the sq. knot but instead push one end of twine into the opposite end for about 3/4 inch.
You might spit on it also if desired .
Makes a very small knot and if made correctly holds as well as a sq. knot. I never tried it with plastic twine.
