I have the need to move my "stuff" around on a regular basis and last week aquired the complete mast off of a Yale 3500 lbs wharehouse lift. I Have a Hesston 70-66DT OR MF 35 that would be candidates for mounting this on to but I' wondering if its worth it and should I make it into a 3point mount or soild mount it to the frame. I know these have been done commercially but can't find any info on them. I also wonder about the hydraulics on the tracto running the main lift cylinder and if I should put double acting cylinder in place of the 3 point top link. Any thoughts?

In case anyone comes across this thread in the future; I completed it and it turned out great. The mast was rated at 4000 lbs and it will do every bit of it. The biggest expense was the welding (I farmed it out to the local shop and it took him 10 hours) Sure is handy.

Sounds like a great project, but I would definitely replace the top link with a cylinder. You'll oftentimes be on uneven ground and need to adjust the angle of the mast.

I don't know your tractors too well so I can't help you with mounting ideas.
I think a set of rear forks would be a great addition to a line of 3 pt. attachments.
Throw your fencing, tools, shovels etc on a pallet
and haul them to your work site, put heavy stuff on pallets and move them around as needed.
Lift feed, seed, equipment etc high enough to slide onto your pickup tailgate. I think a set of forks would be more versatile than even a boom pole. You'd have a great tool. Though as always I'd make it so it was easy to take off and on the 3 pt. hitch
Good luck
Jerry

I have one I made out of a old Towmotor mast. I welded a 3 point hitch drawbar, (like the ones found in farm stores), to the mast for attaching the tractor lift arms. Supported it further with some brackets underneath on the mast. I made a bracket for the toplink and welded it on the mast. This bracket has to be very stout! I also put 2- 1/2 inch u-bolts around the mast cylinder to the toplink bracket that I made. I run the hydraulic cylinder from the remotes on my tractor. It is a single acting cylinder. It has lifted 4000 lbs. I use it on a JD 2510, 4030 or 4320. Works great. I just use the regular tractor toplink. With some careful length adjustment, it works fine. I think you would be very happy with it. I use mine all the time.
