I thought I was taking out a grease cap near the top of the housing ( on the side that trips the plows ). But when I took the "cap" off it turned out to be a bolt and the plows tripped down. When I try to put the bolt back it it acts like nothing for it to thread into. That bolt seems like it goes into the leaver that trips the plows where you tie on the rope. Do I have to take the case apart to get the bolt back in or is there an easier way? Don't know what kind of plows they are. Thanks

It's hard to figure out just what you're talking about, but, have you tried jacking the plow frame back up to the full up position and then putting the bolt in?

Tried that. When the bolt was removed the plows came right down ( the bolt goes back into the case ). Looking at the plows the bolt is in the front up high. ( looks just like a cap for gear oil ). The trip leaver seemed to let go when the bolt came out. The bolt also shows wear about 1" up it like something rides on it. Bolt is appx. 2" long. Thanks

Without a brand or picture of it, sounds like you will be taking it apart. :) I was going to suggest jacking it up & seeing if that helps also. Did you turn the wheel when it was jacked up, to activate whatever gets activated inside?

Just not enough info to guess on what brand you have. Common casting numbers, prefex letters, possible color, anything? 1 or 2 or 3 bottom, levers or crank to adjust it, rubber or steel wheels, ???

The plows are two bottoms, have leaver controls and are mounted on rubber. Color is unknown they are just rusty from sitting out. I don't have the casting #'s with me but I do recall a letter c with some markings inside of it on the casting where the coulter mounts. Sorry I can't give you guys more info. I will look for casting #'s tonight. By the way the wheels are round thin ( about 1/4" ) spoked. Will that help.

What breed of plow is it? Maybe someone can set up a picture of theirs that might help.
