I have gained access to a 271 (or i think thats the number) International Roll baler. It does not have an open Throat. Here is the problem
It has a hard time starting the roll the hay just wants to wad up in the bale chamber. Any help would be appreciated. Also can someone tell me the belt length my grandfather got the length from international but they seem very!!! long. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

the baler is a 241, good balers but getting old. we had one until a few years ago, i dont remember the blet length but they are LONG and it takes 2 people at least to feed them through all the rollers and such in there. your hay is to dry start baiking earlier in the morning so it has a bit of dew on it. hope i was of help.

Baler refusing to start roll can be caused by many things, either baler adjustment or hay condition; do you have a manual?? Should have a trouble-shooting section in back.

I don't have any experience with International balers, but we had a similar problem with our Hesston. The hay would just pack in the chamber into a loaf and never start to roll. The biggest part of the problem was that the hay was too dry. The dealer also suggested higher ground speed (drive faster) with lower RPM (the tractor engine running slower). This helped with our baler. Don't know the belt length, but they can fool ya. Those belts do a lot of weaving back and forth inside the baler; they are indeed pretty long. Good luck.

Hi Chris,

first let me say i know nothing of international rollers. if the material is very stalkie, try going across windrows instead of the normal way. i have heard that some grasses that are too dry will wad instead of rolling. try lower ground speeds with the bailor turning at its rated rpm. and lastly always start a new bale by feeding hay into the extream right or left of the bailor. post back with any news please.
