Assuming you have run a mower/conditioner around a field in a clockwise manner, does that mean that you should run the baler the same way.

When u bale u should keep the windrow to the inside of the baler thus goin in a clockwise manner, if u go counterclockwise the turns are very hard on the u joints and pluc u will have trouble getting all the hay when u make the turn. so yes run the baler clockwise just like u mowed. when u rake hay go counterclockwise 2 times and then go clockwise on the same windrow u just finished to move it away from the un raked hay.

How is a left turn any harder on the u-joints than a right turn?

William,

Good question, I have wondered the same thing about my 14T. It works much better to turn right or toward the pick up than it does to turn left. You can just hear the chattering of the U-joints when turning to the left.

Don't know why, but it does, so I try not to!

Even with a moco you have to rake at least once. I've always heard you should bale in the same direction you raked.

I've heard people say the hay feeds better if its baled the same direction as it was cut. Can't say I've ever proven it. I think more important is that balers with their pick up table on the right side go best around the field in a clockwise direction. Turning to the left often causes the bale shoot to hit the wagon and get bent.
