Need help with how to set the timing on my PT-10, it is shaking itself to pieces, litterly, I have to weld the bal and socket piece on the sickle bar, and hope it stays as I cannot find a replacement. and a older neighbor farmer, where I get my best advice said my timing is off when I put in new teeth on the bar, it did move just fine when I put it back in, he said I moved the bar and pulled it out of timing. I dont have a manual as of yet, any help would be appreciated. thanks

To set the timing on the sickle you will have to adjust crank assembly in or out as needed to get sickle points to line up with tip of guard at each end of stroke. If you cannot get it this way you will have to screw ujoint assebly in or out and then fine adjust with crank. If you still have the old style sickle head that has the ball with the adjuster screw in the end of the head tighten it up untill just all of the slack is gone don't overtighten. Personally I would replace with the new style that looks like a tie rod. Since I replaced ours it made a new machine out of it. The new style is real pricey but worth it as you don't have to tighten up 5 or 6 times a day.
