I just bought bought a new holland modle #270 from a guy who told me that he bought it from a farmer whe used it behind a small ford tractor. I am not sure if it was a 9n or not. I have a 901 ford. The only problem I can see would be you will have to make an adjustment on your power take-off shaft. Your 9n has a smaller spindle. thanks Marvin ph 402 262 2420

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am scouting for a Ford 530 here in Texas.

I have been running a 530 Ford Baler on the back of my 9n for 2 years now with no problem. On my flat fields I am pulling a wagon too. The 530 has rollers mounted on the plunger that makes it a much better match to the 9n than a 14T or 24T. Both of them slide back and forth on flat wear pads and as a result eat up more horse power. I believe there are other small balers out there with rollers mounted on the plunger but I don't recall the brand.

I just cut my hay using a 9N and a New Holland Super 66 with it's own engine. Worked great but make sure you use stabilizer bars on your 3 point. A baler sure tries to move the tractor.

we used the 9-n on our new holland 68 baler some when i was a kid. it kept me busy on the back swath. you might look for a baler with the engine mounted and then if your fields are flat you might get by otherwise consider a larger tractor.
