Change oil in brush hog?

I have a Howse 5' brush hog and I think the gear box has oil in it. I bought this used so I'm thinking I should change it, does anyone have information about this?

i changed the oil in mine only because i lost all the oil when changing the front shaft seal. if the gearbox somehow got water in it then i would surely change the oil. be safe

I change the oil in mine, maybe that's why i'm always comeing here and telling how my Woods cutters hold up so well? It seems most don't, but why wouldn't they??? There's no filter, and it's a gear box just like the stick transmission on your car or pickup!! I use a suction gun to get mine out while it's warm, and then add new gear oil. BTW, i all so change the fluid in the rear ends of my cars and trucks too, do any of you?? Robert

Changed mine after about 8 years because the oil was rusty color. Don't know that it helped a thing.

Just make sure proper level in in gear box. I have never heard of anyone changing oil, But, if that is what you want to do, go ahead. Be Safe.
