Howdy Karl, From the information you have given your friend has a Deering mower that was made after 1903. How I came up with that date is when you discribed the "C" "I" "H" is the early logo for the International Harvester Corporation. If my memory is serving me right McCormick, Deering, Milwaukee, and a few others merged in 1903 to form International Harvester. Could you please ask your friend if the main body also says "Ideal" on it? Also, if you can, please post the casting number from the main body and some from a few other parts. I'll give a look in my parts books to see if I can narrow down what year it was made in. As for parts for a Deering mower, I'm not sure if parts from a early McCormick-Deering mower will fit or not. Your best bet is to find a junk mower the same as he has now with the parts he needs. I just picked up a Deering New Ideal grain binder made after 1903 a week ago and I know the sickle teeth and aprons from a McCormick-Deering grain binder DON'T fit but the pitman is the same. If you need more info feel free to give me a shout. My 2 bits worth, Old Iron
