Hay rake, is it worthwhile?

Greetings,

My neighbor is selling his small Eastern Washington farm and has offered me his implements. I can use some of them but the hay rake is not something I can use. If I don't want this rake he is going to leave it for the new owner of his property.

It is a David Bradley side delivery rake in good condition, but in need of paint and TLC. I'd like to see it go to someone who could use it or a collector rather than rusting away in the back yard.

Is there any interest or should I let it sit?

Rick, I live SE of Spokane and am definitely interested. I have a mower, but not a rake. I would like to get set up to make a little hay. Will it turn and will it operate?

I have a pickup and 16 foot trailer. Let me know a little more about it. I have included my Email address. Value depends on condition, but I would probably give you something for it. Got anything else?

I missed a NH 57 in the Capital Press last week for $100. I was not happy.

I mow with a #9 IH horsedrawn. I rake with a JD that has dolly wheels on some 20% ground. It is Toad's wild ride when I make the downhill turn. Kind of hard to keep a straight windrow too.

I use Fjords near Mosier, OR.

If Chuck doesn't want the rake, I would be interested in it.

Thanks

My wife's uncle has 2 of those that he has dragged out of weed patches and resurrected (re-done every weld, replaced every bearing and bolt). He loves them. He thinks they do a better job than anything available today. I don't think he'd be interested in yours as he has more or less retired from farming.

Rick...

Yes, I am interested. I am watching for a rake, baler and mower to harvest grass hay on my small acreage, but can't afford to put a lot of money into it. If it's not already spoken for, I'd like to hear more about it, and also where you are located. I'm near the TriCities in Eastern Washington - Benton City to be exact. Reply to the forum, or e-mail to my home address. If to home, I'll reply from home this evening since I'm responding from work and would see your reply here, but won't see an e-mail reply till I get home.

Not sure of $$$. Located 15 miles north of Spokane. I'll send more info to your e-mail later w/model #, etc. Operational, complete, weathered. Could use paint.

Rick...OK. Please send more info, particularly price and type of rake. If y ou have access to a digital camera, please post a picture or two. The only thing I found on the web other than a guy who collects that make of tractors was a page that had their historical catalog listings, and the only rake I saw was a dump rake. Since I'm looking for working gear not a collectable, and since I want to bale, not stack, I guess I wouldn't be interested in a dump rake.

You must be up around Deer Park or Mead or there abouts. It will be about 165 miles for me, but if the price is good and it's operational and the right type, I can get there with a trailer to get bring it home.

To be honest, I'm needing a bargain, so you might do better on auction, or at least letting it go to the highest offer over some minimum acceptable. Sounds like it could be a pretty good rake and could be worth more to a collector.

Thanks! I'll look for more info tomorrow.
