I have a 6' 3-pt rotary mower by Modern Mfg (I think) - the kind with a single wheel in the back. When cutting through the ditches and swales it invariably leaves tall grass on one side and scalped on the other side. I'm wondering if there's an easy way add adjustable wheels on the front of this deck so I can just let it ride the ground - more like a finish mower. I don't need finish mower quality cut, just better than what I'm getting.

Anybody ever done something like this? Thanks for any help.

if i understand right all you would hace to do is add one heavy duty wheel one each side of the back just off the ground it would allow the mower to work normaly and work only when tilted it wouldnot lean over and scalp it could be as easy as bolting a piece of angle iron out the back and bolting on the wheels well should work and it would be cheap.

I don't know how handy you are with a welder and torch but the man that used to mow the township roads replaced his single tail wheel with 2larger crazy wheels and a hydralic lift for them ,then he left off the 3rd link and used it like a semi-mounted mower. it wasnt quite as good at following contours as a pull type but it still backed like a mounted

Are your hitch arms adjustable? One arm could be adjusted longer than the other.

How many hp tractor do you have on it? Are you mowing at the proper engine RPM?
