Are there any PTO combines that work with an 8N?

I'm new to all of this, and am trying to find out if there are any older small PTO combines that I can power with my Ford 8N...

I have 15.5 acres, of which about 11 is tilled. We currently have oats & alfalfa (mostly for hay, but the wife wants me to harvest some of the oats), and about 1/2 acre of wheat.

Thanks for any pointers on whether I can use the 8N for this or not.

The 8N noes not have enough power for a 5' on pto, you would need on with a motor, an NAA has half again as much power and will pull a 5' OK

an allis allcrop 60 or 66 should work just fine. also ford had a combine i belive was made by wood bros. that work good with an 8n. my neighbor used to custom cut quite a bit around here with a naa and an all crop. most big farmers dont want to be bother with small patches . and when your stuff needs combining , so does theres. so guess who is first priority! i dont know if you would be better off with one that had an engine instead of pto . but if nessecary you can always adapt. the amish put the engines on carts and pull the combine behind them. or you can always buy a small E or K gleaner combine or a 35 massey . the gleaner will be the easiest to find parts for. plus an E or a K will go fairly cheap at most auctions. i have a 72 all crop i pull with an allis D 17

Thanks everyone - this is really great info, and now I have a better feel for what to look for.

I'll probably end up paying someone to harvest for me this year (if I can find anyone willing to do the small amount I have), and can then start looking for something to purchase for next year.

Both the AC 40 & IHC 42 are in that class, both built only a couple of years in the early forties, if you find one in working condition, a five year project, expect to pay double for it as to what your tractor is worth. Multi thousand Dollars.

hire someone to combine it for you, about $20 an acre. You will be way farther ahead, trust me. Combines are a high maintenace item and fro your amount it dont make sense, been there done that.

just my opinion but I'm JUST AN IDIOT

That depends on how much you have to combine, and where you are. We only have a very few custom operators and they charge $30-$40. per acre with a 30 acre minimum. Most of our growers will have no more than 20 acres so it gets mighty expensive mighty quick (Central Kentucky). The $1000 for custom harvest will buy a good PTO combine.

Your 8N should be able to pull a model 40 All Crop Allis Chalmers combine. The hardest part will be finding one. Good luck Brandon
