Hey Allen:

I just purchased such a baler about 2 weeks ago for $300. And it does work, but expect about 2 days of headaches getting the knotter to work right. I'm searching for a service manual for the same machine, any leads, or where I might view one online?

Thanks

A 276 is an excellent machine, here in Kansas they sell from $1500 for a well used one to $3500 for one in very good shape. One left outside is probably not in very good shape and I would be very cautious, even have a mechanic go inspect it.

I sold New Holland 278 for $2750. One owner always shedded. I have 327 deere for sale if interested. I wouldn't give over $700.00 for 276 ,this model does not have packer fork. You will have some trouble getting hay to far side of plunger. In those model years I would get a JD because they have packer fork to solve that problem. The late model New Hollands have it now.

I'd find a baler that someone at least thought enough of to keep inside. If a farmer has enough room to store just one piece under cover, it should be his baler.

I bought a NH 68 hayliner for 50 bucks,, had a bent shaft in the knotters so I bought another 68 for 10 bucks and switched them,, since then I have had to replace a few minor parts but all have came off the 10 dollar baler..I have 60 bucks into a great working baler ,,,but that is rare,,, here they are cheap though but I think I would offer 500 and see what happens,,,,Jim

Alan, I bought a 273 back in February/March at Auction for 1225.00. Hadnt had 10,000 through it. Paint was still on the pickup...but overall faded as one would expect....I also bought a N.H. 65 two years ago for 200.00 but I stuck about 850.00 into it. Someone once told me you wont get much baler for under 1000.00. Good luck

Scott
