I've been looking at balers both square and round for quite a few months now. Saw in the local newspaper an ad for a JD 510 round baler and thought what the heck, I'll ride down there and take a look at it. It belonged to a vet whose father I talked to that said he's (the vet) has gotten so busy that they just don't have the time to put into baling and they have acutally started to hire it. Anyway, rode down there. Baler turned out to be a solid baler (no rusted out places). Belts in good shape, bearings looked good (from what I could tell of the bearings), rollers looked good so I bought it right there. Going back down there next weekend to pick it up. Couldn't bring it back today and the vet is going to have the wheel bearing grease checked for the ride home (about 40 miles). I'm sure once I get it home I'll have plenty of questions.
First order of business, manuals. Doc said he see if he couldn't find the manuals that went with it but was unsure where they were.
Excitement made it to where I had to tell someone. Thanks for listening guys.

A word of advice as a fellow 510 owner - never attempt to bale unless the hay is really dry. Otherwise, it will wrap around the inlet rollers and you will have a miserable time untangling it !
Other than that, they're good balers.

Hay,
What part of town do you live in? I'm out near the fair grounds in Rosenberg.
I hope that baler turns out to be ok. Doc said it old but a pretty good old baler. It looked good. Will probable be perfect for what I need it for.
