I have a Ford 8n tractor. I need to purchase a chain harrow. I can buy a 4 foot harrow for $225.00 or a 6 foot harrow for $345.00. Which harrow will work best with my tractor? I have no experience with this implement. I have approx. 2.5 acres of pasture to maintain, harrowing horse manure and re-seeding at times. I would greatly appreciate any feedback I could get to help me decide which size to buy. Thank you in advance.

I'd go with the six foot. It will cover your tractor tracks. We pull a thirteen footer behind a 50hp tractor with no problems.

I would have to agree with Del. I had a 5' 3pth tandem disk harrow (came with rig). While I LIKE riding my tractor I also like being efficient. Early on it was FUN just to be doing some ground work.

As I have grown in my knowledge of using my rig and the associated implements I have found I have plenty of time to ride. I am doing more than just routine field maintenance. I ended up buying a 10' IHC #37 transport disk. Got very tired of covering same ground with smaller implement. I would suggest the 6' as that is what I plan to run behind my Oliver 550.

I am no expert by any means. For that small of acreage, you won't need much size of implement. I bought a single section of drag tooth harrow for $10 at a sale from some guy who bought a whole 4 section job kind of cheap. You aren't in shortage of tractor to pull it. Either size would work. Depends on how much time you like to be on the tractor.
