I bought this baler at auction, and need to know how to run the twine to the knotter, or how to get the twine in the knotter? Also would like to find a manual for it. Thanks, Mike

I had a 45 for years, every once in awhile the twine would knot around the needles, then needed a good knife to clean it off, don't pry, broke one of them once, after finding what anew one cost, spent a couple of hours repairing it. Be sure the big knife on the ram is sharp too, for easier baling. john in nebraska

Our #45 had threading instructions inside the lid of one of the twine cans. The thing the instructions don't say is how you push the twine through the needles. We got a length of stiff wire and bent a little loop at the end of it. After we ran the twine from the can through the loops to the needle, we drew about 5' of slack, put a loop of twine in the loop on the wire and pushed it until it came out the tip. If I recall, there are two rollers at the tip of the needle and the twine goes between them (not over the top roller). After disconnecting the wire, pull the twine taught and tie it off somewhere to the rear of the needles.

My Grandpa had a 45T bailer and that is what youve got. The T stands for twine as against the 45 W bailer which was for wire. His had a continnental engine on it or a C farmall engine, but he ran it with a 1952 A John Deere. I can remember when he would stop the tractor for whatever reason, the bailer would lunge and plunge and it looked like arat terrier with a rat . My grandpa said that he haited to come down a hill and make a turn cause it looked like the bailer was going to eat him. Good luck in your hunt. I didnt think anybody would use one of those things anymore. Ive got a 1960 Case Bailer. The 45T s were made in the late 40s and early 50s

We had a 45 whebnI was a kid. A couple of things about them. Buy the best twine you can find. They don't like the cheap stuff. Never tried the plastic twine in them so don't knopw aobut that. Also, get a manual and follow the diorections to set up the knotters. They are quite touchy, and the ktwine knife has to be sharp and adjusted right. Spometimes it would tie like a champ, ando other times wouldn't tie to save your sole. Otherwide a good solid baler. We rand ours with either a Farmall C or a 350.
