I've read through the archieves regarding Ferguson two bottom plows...seems that if I had to choose between which to get (for 8N)....that the Dearborn would be a better buy, when you take part availablity into account...would you guys agree?

Where are you finding parts for Dearborn plows? I can't find anything through the dealer or anywhere else.

Bret, are you checking with an old dealer? If you do not have an old dealer near you, we are one and can ship you a part if it is available, what do you need?

If you look for a plow I would recommend a Dearborn economy or Ford 101 trip beam plow with razor blade (throw away) shares and replaceable shins so that you can keep the wearing parts replaced without alot of expense.

I've got a mix of Dearborn, Ferguson, and "no name" stuff for my 8N. Given a choice between Dearborn and Ferguson, I'd take the Dearborn for the reasons you stated.

Both brands are made well. My local New Holland dealer can get me parts for all the Dearborn stuff, and usually fairly reasonable; my local Massey Ferguson dealer can get me parts sometimes on a good day.

But if the Ferguson is lots cheaper, or is the only one available when I need it, I'll go ahead and buy Ferguson and hope I don't need to find parts in a hurry.

good luck,
Tom
