Does anyone know the length of grain auger I will need to use on a grain bin that is 30ft. in diameter and has a 16.5ft. side wall. I don't know the height of the roof on the bin. Will a 8" or 10" auger work OK? The bin is a Chief brand.

I have a Westfield brand auger 8inch diameter 61 ft long will work just fine for you if interested. This one is hydraulic lift.

Here's a couple sites that should help, depending on your appliction. A wild guess from the charts looks like 50' barely gets by, probably be happier with more. Auger diameter depends on how fast you want to unload...

Ken,

The main consideration in the auger should be how high the bin is. The diameter doesn't really matter. The diameter only determines the rate of flow into the bin. The larger the diameter, the faster you will fill the bin and off-load the wagon.

My 2 bits worth,
