I am in the market now or in the spring ($) for a rotary cuter for my F-20. I will obviously need a pull type, but beyond that I don't know what specifications to look for. What can an F-20 handle? It seems many cutters are rated for something like 540 or 1000 RPM. Many give gear box ratings like 120HP. The F-20 at best is 23HP PTO, I believe. How big would be too big?

Also, how good would a used Servis be? It needs a new main seal. Any guess on how much cost and effort that would take?

Thanks,

Tony

Your problem will be with the PTO, was not a standard size shaft, you will need the orignal IHC made PTO adapter conversion kit if you do not have it, will be hard to find

Is this the same as the PTO extension?

I think that it is, I just know that a lot of F20's have just the end of the PTO up under the differential, Just make sure that you have standard size, 1 3/8", shaft and 14" between end of shaft and hitch pin, you need a hitch plate to bolt to the standard wide drawbar to set the turning point back a bit further so that the drawbar and the mower have turning room without binding and breaking something.

Thanks!

So, since the extension brings the shaft back behind the draw bar by an inch or two, I will need something 15-16" long to serve as a hitch plate? Any suggestions on what to use or is this a TSC type item?

Your F-20 will have more than 23 hp. Thats arund the range of the Regular Farmall, not the F-20. I have had 3 f-20 s in my life 55 and have a F-30 now. Your F-20 will run around 27hp or a bit mnore or less determining on the condition. You can pull a 5ft brush hog with ease with one. Keep the blades sharp and you probably can pull a 6ft. Watch those automatic turning brakes with your thumbs wrapped around the sterring wheel. Good luck
