Can anyone provide me with the pros/cons of using a 3 Pt. backhole compared to a backhole that is frame mounted? Any advice/information is greatly appreciated.

I have a three-point Woods on my JD 750. The first year I had it, the constant pounding on the upper link mount egged it out pretty bad. I had it punched out and resized with a set of hardened bushings, and have had no problems at all since, in about 6 years.

I use the hoe pretty hard at times, and have seen no indication of damage to the tractor. As Bob said, the ease and speed of mounting and dismounting the hoe is a big advantage, particularly when you change implements three or four times a day.

I have seen some reports of broken transmission castings from the stresses of a 3 point, but as I said, no sign of that on my JD. I suspect the castings involved may have been flawed.

Bill; As the old saying goes "The weakest link". It stands to reason that a solid frame mount is stronger and will last longer (wear on parts) than any type of quick connect. The new John Deere for the utility tractors is claiming a frame mount instead of the 3 point. I have not looked them over yet. On the other and if your use is occasional and the jobs are not to heavy and taxing on the equipment, there is nothing wrong with the 3 point and it allows for a more versitle use of your equipment. Something many of us have to consider. Hope this helps its just my 1 cent worth.
