I just bought a 605F Vermeer round baler. Hydraulic tie arm, and I can't get the darn tie arm to go down to start tying. It will push up if I pull it down by hand, & it makes minor jerks downward, but nothing I would consider worthwhile, never got farther to the right than 1/2 way... Played with the speed knob, and sanded/oiled the slider so it was smoother. No go. Any ideas? Manual says it limits at 600 lbs pressure, so a low power system...

On the plus side, did a real nice job making the bale - just kinda loose without the twine. :)

Your problem could be one of two things. First the rod and tube wear and at a point start to bind. Second this is an area that gets a lot of dirt. If oiled this becomes a thick/sticky sludge causing the rod to stick. I remove the rod and tube and clean with solvent and a long bottle brush. Then lube with a silicon spray. This will cure the problem 9 of 10 times.

I'll try that, no one had what I needed in stock so I had to remove from other implements, now take another off! Dern holiday weekends.... ;) I swapped outlet pairs, as well as flipped them, never have gotten that arm to swing left. Works good to extend it across so I got a few bales made, but have to push the arm down by hand to start.

Otherwise, wondering about that 600lb pressure relief valve, about all that could be wrong...???

Very well could be in the pressure, could be a peice of trash in the orvice.Wonder if o ring in the cylinder is bad and the oil is going by and pushing the wrong way. My arm swings down pretty fast but comes up slow, which is adjustable, but you can here the oil pressure bleeding through the regulator valve. Just some thoughts.ken
