"Better" is pretty subjective and only your opinion will really count here. Since either of these will be about 25 years old, there seems to be likely to be more variation between individual tractors of a given model than between these models. When new the (Nebraska test of Diesel models) pto/drawbar Hp were 52.42/46.94 for the 165 and 63.34/55.69 for the 175. The 175 was also about 1000 pounds heavier.
I had a 165 (gasoline)for about 10 years until last fall. I liked it, but had difficulty getting service-- MF dealer network is sparse in SE Wisconsin.

FRANK MASSEY FERGUSON NETWORK IS NOT GREAT WHERE I LIVE TOO BUT THEY ARE CHEAPER TRACTORS THAN FORD AROUND HERE AND MOST OF THE JD AND NH DEALERS AROUND HERE HAVE TO ORDER HALF OF WHAT YOU NEED ANYWAY I THINK THEY ARE ALL GOING TO BE THAT WAY BEFORE LONG
