I use a Deerborn 19-31 loader to move snow. I plow with a rear mounted blade. The Farmer's Almanac says VT is in for a heavy winter. I'd much rather plow with a front mounted blade. Any reason why I couldn't mount a blade on the loader?

When I bought my 8N a few years back, it came with a Dearborn loader, back blade, etc. The previous owner had modified a pickup type snow blade to attach in place of the loader bucket. It has angle capability which works well until the snow is too deep or heavy. With the blade on the loader you can push the pile up as high as your loader goes. The modification isn't pretty, but it works. I may be able to get a couple pictures taken to e-mail if you're interested.

We used a plank mounted on top of the teeth and fastened to the bucket, all loader manfuctures made dozer blades for the loaders

I have thought about the same thing. I don't see any reason a plow could not be made to mount either to the existing bucket or to the loader arms. I would think they would be strong enough. And it sure would be easier on the neck. Building a straight blade would be fairly easy--just get some steel rolled and use a grader blade for the wear edge and weld up some supports and brackets. However building one with a changable angle would be a lot more difficult, and I wonder how well the tractor would steer with and angled front blade. The other problem I can see is that I would not have the bucket to use to pile snow if I had a front blade.

I have wondered if any manufacturer made such a plow. Maybe someone has a photo.

I have an 8N and have the opportunity to buy a model 19-31 loader. Can anyone tell me how it hooks up on the transaxle (Do I need a special bracket?) And, also, with the pump being on the front, where do I purchase a front-end shaft to connect to it? Are there better, older front loaders out there I can buy that will work as well? I'm paying $250.00 for this one without the bracket and front shaft coupler.

Thanks, Don May
