I've got a 9N and a Dearborn 14-15 sickle bar, I rebuilt the sickle bar then tried to mount the silly thing to my 9N. It doesn't fit. I finally got some manuals for the sickle bar that tell me I need a mounting kit. Called the NH folks who tell me what I need is no longer stocked/manufactured. I'm thinking of picking up a MF- 35 ( for other reasons) but think I'll have the same problem only a different tractor.

Any good folk out there got any ideas?

What do you call a mounting kit, I have one and also a manual, does not call for anything except your stabilizer brackets and one stabilizer bar for the left side, hade it mounted once and took to show, took it off and started to restore it 3 year ago and never got it finnished. Leroy

Interesting.. According to the manual I got, there are two extensions that each attach to a lifting arm. I'm not sure about the center pin arrangement. There is also a fifth attachment under the right side (looking at it from behind)for the break-away. I have stabilizer bars attached there now so it may already fit that bracket. It's the lifting arms and center pin connections that have me stymied. I've tried to mount this thing once already (like stacking bowling balls) just didn't fit right.

I can't count it seems. There are four mounting points not five like I had mentioned. I'd be interested in what you got if it will make this thing work. I have new knives, guards and belt (NH stocks that) on this thing. Be nice if I could actually use it.

I'm a-thinkin' that the "mounting kit" is basically the different lower arms, lift link extensions, and the PTO-mounted pulley. I believe you had to remove most of the normal linkage on the back of the 9N and replace it with the stuff that came with the mower. Ergo, you're gonna have the same problem on the Massey.

The Dearborn and Ferguson mowers just didn't take advantage of the 3-point's capabilities. In all fairness, I've read that rear-mounted mowers were considered the most difficult of all implements to design. Getting a mower to mount on the drawbar, or ride along on its own wheels wasn't too hard. But build something to fit a 3-point, mount quickly, lift and lower, and actually work on the hay...well that was quite a job.

Sorry I'm not more help. Hope you get the bugger working.

I appreciate the info. Sadly I think you are right. Its turning out to be an expensive boat anchor.
