When you cut tall thick grass hay with a brush hog
and you have one side of the brush hog opened up, does it tend to mulch the hay fairly fine or does it come out pretty much as if it were mowed with a sickel bar mower? Also does it matter which side you have opened up? I am contimplating giving it a try next year. Thanks

The side of my Woods rotary cutter can be unbolted to take the side off. I've tried cutting hay with it open and with it closed, and i can't see much difference. I do set my cutter so the back sits higher than the front, and that's all it needs. Robert

Yes, good point; I think with the back higher you will only cut the hay once, thus doing less mulching of the hay and the tractor won't work quite as hard either.

remove the LEFT side of the bush hog for hay cutting. it lets the grass out faster without chopping it up too much. also the grass will cure faster when cut with a "hog". be safe!
