IN A PHOTO A SAW AN OLD STEAM ENGINE PULLING AT LEAST 5 GRAIN BINDERS. ALL WERE CUTTING THEIR OWN SWATH. HOW WOULD THEY BE HITCHED TO PULL OFF TO SIDE OF THE ONE IN FRONT AND STAY STRAIGHT?

THANK YOU

I dont know how they were hitched, but I do know they had their own steering wheel, and if somthing went wrong with there binder, they could pull inside behind the one in front of theirs and fix it, while those behind of them pulled over themselves to take up the slack left by the one pulling out, and when he had fixed the problem, he would pull back in his place in line, and they behind him would do the same and they would all go on.
