does anyone make a lifting device that could be towed behind a pickup truck to move cat. I or II equipment at hwy speeds? if not is there a reason not to make one? might be handier for some people than loading and off loading from a trailer?

Thanks

Ive built a few for some freinds here that have 2 wheels and a hand pump for using late moddel equipment with horses/ and older tractors. I made my first one a few years before cad mad theirs. Theres a factory unit at a local farm shop for horse just needs the toung shortened a bit and a ball hitch. Where are you located if its close to north mississippi I can help you build one to suit your implement.

I have seen exactly what you are talking about several years ago, but have no idea who made it. Was a 2 wheel trailer with a swinging 3 point. dealers used it to deliver units to farms. 3 point had a hand pump to llift unit, could swing the whole thing sideways to keep a wide implement the narrow way behind p-up truck to go down the road.

Yup, most implemet dealers have one of these around here. I would not say you can go highway speeds, but 30 - 40 maybe. I used one to haul a snowblower home, it would pivot to the side so the blower was sideways for the haul.

A local Case IH dealer had a three point disc mower that came with a dolly that it attacked to. The dolly had two wheels and a tounge on it and then had lift arms and a top link on it. It was meant to convert three point equipment to pull behind. For example, you'd leave the dolly behind your tractor all the and then hook implemts like 3 pt mowers, shredders, disc, etc to the dolly. On it, the arms were power by remote cylinders on the tractor, but if you built on for behind a truck you could replace that remote cylinder with a hydraulic jack cylinder off of a shop lift/crane or the like. All you'd need is an axle, a tongue, two lift arms, a jack, and a welding machine (and time). Good luck.

Look on Cadplans.com. I think they have something like you are asking for.

i like that idea, i have seen a few old jeeps with 3 pt hitches and ptos even. i dont think i would attach it to a 2 inch reciever tho, alot of leverage on it.it would be nice tho to have a 3pt hitch attachment for moving implements or even like picking up things with a carryall or boompole or even dragging things with the 11 hole drawbar. seem like you could use a snowplow lift cylinder with the pump mounted to it(meyers makes them that way i believe).

I've seen wheels and tongue that can be attached to a toolbar and you can pull it sideways. That way you would have it all in one lane of the highway. Tongue mounts on one end, and the wheels mount about midway on the toolbar. Hope this is what you are looking for. Another thought would be a 3 point hitch that would slip into a receiver hitch to carry small implements. Maybe use hydraulic jacks to raise it for transport.
