IH disc repair

trying to rebuild my disc and can't get the bearing off the shaft
. It has turned slightly and is tight. tried to beat it off and got nowhere.
don't have a torch so I can't cut it off. Anyone have any Ideas?

You don't want to torch it off anyway since the heat would likely further damage the shaft. I don't think this is really kosher, but I often mount a metal cutting blade in my circular saw for serious cutting or slicing jobs. If you can't get into the part with that setup, us an air cut-off tool. If you don't have/can't afford either (and have time) get a blade adaptor for your drill! With bearings, you usually don't have to cut clear through. After scoring, a few solid wacks with a hammer will usually crack the bearing so it will come off. USE EYE PROTECTION for all of these procedures! Good luck.

Just cut one off my JD disk, if you angle the flame right you won't heat the shaft very much, bearing materal usually bubbles right off fast.

An angle grinder might also grind a groove in that you could split.

Another one was good, but had moved on me. A week of wd-40 & picking at the dirt in it with a welding scratcher got enough dirt out to pound it back into place, altho that's not my proudest repair job, I wish I had gotten it off & cleaned out properly.
